We Are Live Salted!
MOMENTS
On July 1, 2023 we kicked off summer with our second Live Salted Dinner. We gathered with 40 women on the shores of Puget Sound at The Journey Church for an evening of mocktails, delicious food, and meaningful conversation.
We continued the conversation we started at this year’s Embody Conference with the help of Kalos Pastor, Amreitha Jeeva, who shared a message around living fully embodied in the physical space where God has called us.
So often, we can be physically in one place wishing we were somewhere else, or we can be somewhere and not know how long we will be there for. This means we never actually put down roots. We give ourselves an out, and avoid commitment. Throughout the evening, Amreitha encouraged us to name the place we feel called (whether to a physical space or to people), and then invited us to imagine what flourishing would look like in that location. She invited us to bask in the beauty that comes when we fully commit to where God has us—even when the season is short, God can do much with a whole heart.
After hearing from Amreitha, we turned to our tables for small group discussions. As the room swelled with conversation, we sensed that people were “going there.” We shared about the hardships associated with putting down roots and the hardships we encounter along the way. We also heard stories from women who had decided to put down roots, naming spaces as their own. They shared how they are now reaping the joy and deep satisfaction that followed their choice to plant.
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river. And will NOT FEAR when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor cease from yielding fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8 NIV
From the moment Salt was born, we have encouraged each other to lead by sharing what God is doing. The act of sharing in front of others does not come easily for most, yet, when we demonstrate bravery by sharing what the Lord has put on our hearts—lives are changed. And we got to experience that first hand when we heard Emilie Hill share her testimony for the very first time at this dinner.
We first met Emilie Hill at our Embody Immersive Prayer Retreat. When we heard her story, we knew it would encourage others in the knowledge that the Lord is actively pursuing us in every aspect of our lives.
Emilie was hesitant about sharing her story at first. You’ve most likely been there too. It’s nerve wracking to be asked to share your story, especially for the first time. But after praying and conversing with her loved ones, Emilie said “yes”! And, wow, did her story move us. The details of Emilie’s story are hers to share, but her vulnerability and authentically did something powerful in that room. Emilie’s bravery emboldened others to do the same when they broke off into small groups.
We saw vividly that night how owning the good and bad decisions we make, accepting the things that are done to us, and surrendering all of it at the Lord’s feet is powerful and impactful.
Emilie, thank you for leading us in the way of Jesus. Your story matters and has impacted many!
We were so encouraged by our dinner party, and we hope to have you join us at our next one! If you would like to join us in the future, check out our upcoming events calendar.
