MOMENTS
We live in such a fast-paced world full of instant gratification, but here’s why patience is such an important part of building a strong relationship.
We hear it over and over again… “for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part”.
These are marriage vows, but it is speaking of patience.
Patience is something we are not as accustomed to these days. We have instant gratification all around us from Google, to iMessage, to microwavable oatmeal…things that require patience are rare these days.
While all of these make our lives more convenient, it can often veer us away from things that take time… i.e. relationships
Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. – Romans 5: 3-4
Paul explains that “Love is patient and kind.” (1 Corinthians 13:4)
Patience is an important part of building relationships.
We find patience in building a trusting relationship. We find patience in getting through hard times. And we find patience in understanding our partner’s heart.
Find moments to be patient with those around you. Be patient with the person taking longer to order their coffee. Be patient with the drivers on the freeway. Be patient with your friends if they don’t respond to your group message right away. Be patient with your partner as they work through their own life and you try to navigate yours together.
Waiting is a sign of true love and patience. Anyone can say ‘I love you’, but not everyone can wait and prove it’s true.
Our Hub Contributors are women who share their passion and perspective with us by writing articles for our HUB. We love opening up our platform to create space to hear other voices and let our audience be discipled by a variety of people. If you are interested in writing for the HUB, please send us an email at livesalted@gmail.com.
