MOMENTS
The time between a serious relationship and marriage is one of waiting and a lot of growth. What is on a guy’s heart during that time?
Dear Fiancè and Future Wife,
I’ve prayed to find the words that I want to express to you about this journey we have been on, and where we are going next. I have a bundle of excitement, joy, love, fear, nervousness, and a million other emotions going on. To have had such an amazing relationship with you already has proven to be some of the best years of my life. When I think of some of the best days that I’ve been blessed to enjoy, you’re right there each time. You truly are a blessing, and I can’t imagine the rest of my days I have left without you.
We’ve definitely had our ups and downs, and I have so many flaws. What continues to draw me closer to you, is that your Christ-like love accepts me for who I am and loves me for me. I would be lying if I didn’t say I had fear or some uneasiness about the future. I often struggle with overthinking too much, and jealousy. I struggle with my lust for you, and ultimately, the thought of losing you one day. All of this comes from my ultimate struggle of turning my love for you over to Christ and that’s something I constantly pray about. We know not to worship “idols,” but I never want to let our love for each other turn into an idol over Christ. He has provided us with this incredible relationship, and by keeping Christ at the center of everything we do, I’m confident we will conquer the flames and shine bright as a light for others to see.
I often talk to God about what the purpose behind our relationship is. Literally, our relationship that you and I share with each other. He’ll sometimes reveal to me that despite what we might see in the news, hear through stories of gossip, or fight against the devil; there are still relationships out there that embody Christ’s love for each other.
I often look at the relationships that I have been raised under and find myself so grateful to have had such amazing examples of what marriage means, and what it looks like. It’s not easy, and what I’ve learned through it all is that a marriage is the embodiment of the love Christ has for all of us, that no matter what happens or what we go through, he always loves us.
I’ve always known you were my soulmate, and I’ve had to be patient. There were times when I thought my “chances” at you were gone and I couldn’t stop kicking myself over it. When everything clicked though, I’ve had the fire burning so bright in my heart and there hasn’t been a day that I haven’t been thankful for your grace, love, and patience. God put you in my life in important places, and one of those was to reconnect me in my personal relationship with Him. Before you, I was going downhill on a slippery slope. I was breaking the chain with God, but you rekindled that for me. God’s plan and timing are so beautiful. It’s why I love testimonials so much because we’ve had moments that are unexplainable and bring tears to your eyes when you think about them. You guiding me home to Christ is one of those.
I’ve made a promise to Christ that I will always love you and be here for you. No matter what circumstances, I will always protect you, care for you, and love you. My patience is often tested by the speed and where we’re going in our relationship, but that timing isn’t determined by us, it’s determined by Christ who has even blessed us to even be together.
Lastly, there are things I pray for constantly. I pray we will ultimately serve Christ individually and together. I pray that we show our utmost love to Him always. You are His, and I am His. Together, we are His. I pray for our faithfulness in Christ, in our marriage, and ourselves as individuals. I pray that no matter how bad things might become, or how amazing they might rise, that we remain grounded in our love for each other and trust the Lord. I pray that we will continue to develop into the partners we are made for each other.
You’re my best friend, future mother of my children, and love of my life. I thank you for being the most incredible person that I could do life with, and I give all glory to the Father up above. Amen.
Love,
Your Future Husband
