Community is essential to the growth of us humans, so read on, and be encouraged to actively go out and search for a community to pour yourself into.
I’ve always had this stigmatism against “community”. I had this idea that being a part of a community meant being like everyone else. That it would wipe me of my individuality.
It simply took me finding the right community to be a part of to see the true beauty behind being in one- one where I had my sense of individuality but also felt like a part of the group.
Community is there for you when you need advice. When you need someone to go to lunch with. When you have a question about if you should wear the black tank or the white tee! Whatever it is!
You can engage in it, help it grow, and flourish within it. OR you can deny it, feel distant from the people in it, and rough it on your own.
The Lord put people in our lives to help us along the way. We are all His creations and He wants us to engage with one another.
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” – Hebrews 10:24-25
Find your community, lean into it, and I promise you BEAUTIFUL things will happen.
If you are in a place where finding your community is hard- you are at a secular school, just moved to a new city, or just feel lost in where you are, be encouraged that our God is a God who loves community. Think about Himself- He is three in one- never alone.
Tell the Lord you want a community. Tell Him you want strong friends to be vulnerable with. Tell Him you want to grow with other people around you. Pray hard for these things and then go out there and be active in trying to find community. Go to church groups, check out clubs at school, send emails to pastors and ask them for advice on how to find community. Go on walks, go to the same coffee shop to establish relationships with the people there. Go out, be seen, and keep a smile on your face and eyes off your phone- I promise if you do these things the Lord will cross your path with someone who, too, is desiring to be in community!
Our Hub Contributors are women who share their passion and perspective with us by writing articles for our HUB. We love opening up our platform to create space to hear other voices and let our audience be discipled by a variety of people. If you are interested in writing for the HUB, please send us an email at livesalted@gmail.com.
