OVERVIEW: ACTS PART II

An animated video that go over the book of Acts and will help widen your understanding of Paul and his heart behind writing the letter to the Ephesians.

“There is one body and one Spirit – just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”
- EPHESIANS 4:4-6

Week One

The enemy wants to keep you quiet, fearful and ashamed, BUT because of the cross, you are loved and forgiven and empowered!

in him we are chosen

Paul assures that we have been “blessed in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places” (1:3) and then goes on to detail every one of these blessings. Some of those include His glorious grace, redemption through His blood and our undeserving salvation.

Because of this, the church should be praising and giving thanks to the Lord as often and as fervently as they can.

by grace WE have been saved

Week Two

GOD IS
FOR YOU

What if we didn’t work so hard to be good, but rather we worked hard to be NEAR to GOD?

Paul so clearly lays the foundation that Jesus, in His great love, power, and grace, has chosen you, adopted you, forgiven you, drawn you near to Him, and desires to make you alive because of His kindness toward you. He has saved you and set you apart and has a grand purpose for your life! He has placed EVERYTHING under His feet and is the Great Uniter. There are continually things that God invites us to lay down and leave behind so that we might live more fully into the life He has for us.

thE fullness of life is to be RECEIVED AS A GIFT FROM GOD

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”
- EPHESIANS 4:29

Week Three

This living temple is where the Spirit dwells and is made known to the world.

THE CHURCH

Ephesians 4 begins with the most beautiful description of what the church is meant to look like. Contrary to how many of us have understood, the church is not a building or a place to meet on Sundays or for midweek night Bible study. The church is any gathering of God’s people where He is lifted up. We are the church at this very moment!

We need the Spirit of God to strengthen us and quell our fears so that we can stand firm in the wall, and point to Jesus as our foundation, our Savior, our Protector and Friend.

Jesus is the Corner Stone

Week Four

SET YOUR EYES ON JESUS

This is the goal: that we would know His voice and His heart toward us, so that we might live in unity with Him, ourselves and with others.

Hebrews 12:2 admonishes us to “Set your eyes on Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith...” If our eyes are set on Jesus, then we will not veer from God’s perfectly designed purpose for our lives! The natural consequence is an outflow of the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 6) and a familiarity with His voice. A friend describes hearing God’s voice as “the spontaneous flow of thoughts when our hearts are set on Jesus.” We have the mind of Christ, so when we are focused on Him, we will hear His thoughts in our thoughts. It is that voice that is deep within and yet seems to originate from somewhere else.

We steer where we stare

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
- EPHESIANS 6:12
