Even When… His Love Remains

There is something about our gatherings in Portland that just hit different from the rest. Westside: A Jesus Church has opened their doors to us three times now, and every time, before we’ve even sung the first worship song, or shared the first word, the Spirit’s presence is tangible.
That day, more than a hundred ladies gathered to be reminded of God’s faithfulness. We learned that in all things He is running toward us and pursuing us. Even when the warm emotions or the feelings are not there, He is. How incredible is that truth? How amazing is it to accept and realize that our Father is always for us? Even when we turn away from Him, even when we deny Him, even when we doubt or question or chose a way of the world over Him, He is still there.
Thank you God for being that way. Thank you for loving us so well!

Over the course of the day, we heard from four amazing speakers: Krista Hengesh, Emily Jamieson, Joy Roberts and Elaine Adams as well as from an amazing panel of women. Each speaker had their own take on the idea of “Even When” and when preached together as one cohesive voice it created a beautiful narrative of God and how much He loves us. In all things, He is faithful.

Diving into the Word Together: A Love for Scripture
There are not many things more powerful than opening up the Word and reading it within community. It’s powerful reading with one voice, the same section of the text, and then going through and bringing our own experiences, Bible Studies, sermons, podcasts, books and conversations into it to bring the Word to life. Don’t you just love how you can read a passage of Scripture and every time something new pops out? That must be why we call the Bible the Living Word!
Reading the Bible with Qx4
At Salt, we have a Bible reading tool called the QX4, and it is a simple sheet that walks you through four questions to ask yourself while reading the Bible. For our Even When Conference tour, we decided to teach this tool at every event and it ended up being one of our favorite parts of the day each time. To see your faces light up as you discover that reading the Bible is fun and gives you so much wisdom and knowledge—not just dry sand— was incredible. We loved seeing you actively engaging in conversations with the strangers or friends around you.
