The Trip of a Lifetime

March 22-30, 2019 | North Island, NZ

This was the trip of a lifetime. The Lord deposited this crazy idea in our minds to host a conference in New Zealand and to bring along a team of women with us to do so. We looked at the calendars, and heading there during Spring Break seemed like the perfect option.

After planning, and organizing and launching this trip into the world we ended up with fourteen incredible women who said “yes” to raising the money, giving up their Spring Break and some even missing classes to travel across the world to share the Gospel with Kiwis in New Zealand. Of course, we had to build in some discipleship and fun along the way as we always do here at Live Salted.

We flew into the north part of the island in Auckland and spent the first weekend bonding as a team and getting over jet lag. After an amazing three days of digging into the Word, writing letters to the Lord (Emmanuel Journaling), finishing up preparations for the conference, and much time spent in conversation it was time to start our road trip down to the south part of the island to Wellington where the conference would take place.

Along the way we hiked, we ate, we got bitten by SO many bugs, we laughed, we danced, we cried, we spilled olive oil all over a few of the girls’ bags (we recommend never doing that), we played in hot pools and above all of that experienced Jesus in so many different ways. Most of the girls went into that trip as strangers, as we all left as friends. Our prayer was that the women at the conference would be able to see Jesus in the way that we loved one another and that was exactly what happened.

We don’t really know how exactly this first came to be, but it became something that marked this trip and a moment that we all dearly treasure.

The first time it happened we were somewhere in between Auckland and Wellington in one of the girls on our team house for the night. We had just finished learning about the power of worship and next thing we knew we were all lying down on our backs with our heads on each other’s stomachs singing worship songs. As we felt each other’s stomachs rise and fall, we breathed. We sang. It was such a silly feeling but we all felt so connected. It is one thing to hear someone sing but then to feel them sing is entirely different.

On the last day of our time together, we spontaneously did this same thing and it was the perfect way to wrap up our time together. The Lord moves in a way that only He can move, and He bonds His children together in only a way that He can. We were so thankful for the way He worked through our lives during the time that we had together!
