You Are the Salt of the Earth

300 women from all over Southern California gathered together to hear what the Lord had for them at the first Live Salted Conference on April 9, 2016. It was an event that would be remembered in the hearts of many as the day they learned their true identity in Christ.
We worshiped together, connected in small groups, learned a LOT from a handful of amazing speakers, and listened in as women shared vulnerably on our panel. It was a time of “coming as we are” and letting the Lord minister to us in whatever season of life we were walking through. There was joy. There was community. There was the presence of the Holy Spirit. We couldn’t have asked for a more incredible first event, we truly believe this event is only the beginning of many to come!
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” – Matthew 5:13

Daughter vs Orphan
Robin Verner, our keynote speaker of the conference, enlightened us on= two main ways of viewing our identity on earth. One way is through an orphan perspective and the other is as a daughter of the living King, our Savior. Check out these truths below as they are so powerful and perspective-shifting!
- A daughter receives God’s love because she knows that He is good. An orphan must earn God’s approval or affection.
- A daughter is interdependent. An orphan is independent, self-reliant
- A daughter is at rest and peace regardless of what is going on around her. An orphan fights for everything she gets.
- A daughter is not threatened by others because she knows that she has great value. An orphan deals with self rejection from comparing herself to others.
- A daughter finds pleasure and delight in her life. An orphan deals with jealous and wishes that she could have someone else’s life.
- A daughter is able to see the good in others because she knows that she is unconditionally loved and accepted by God. She loves from love, not for it. An orphan feels an overwhelming sense of shame and guilt because she can never be enough. She feels unlovable.
- A daughter is positive and affirmed because she knows who she is. An orphan is looking for everything and everyone to tell her who she is.
- A daughter can hold her head high in the presence of powerful people. An orphan gives away her power to any and everyone that she feels inferior to.
- A daughter is free! Free to be who she is and free to love herself. An orphan doesn’t know who she is and ends up seeking comfort in counterfeit affections and addictions.
Live Salted is a ministry for the hungry ones. They create Scripture-based resources + spaces to cultivate a culture where women live intimately with Jesus and boldly in their communities.
